My Winter in Melbourne

August 5, 2016

Tonight we went to the winter fireworks downtown.  These are held every Friday night.  Our views were from a boat called the Lady Cutler.  Didn't see much of the fireworks due to the angle of the boat, but the skyline was spectacular!

I went to the Prahran Market today.  It's a couple of miles from home.  I am really going to miss these markets back in the US.  You can find absolutely anything at these places.  I love the assortment of dips!  Yum!

Melbourne is the coffee capital of the world.  I've gotten very used to stopping for a coffee at one of the thousands of outdoor cafes during my time here.  I am feeling a self proclaimed coffee snobbery coming over myself and don't think our Keurig, or drip machine in the US is going to cut it anymore.  For that reason, I attended a barista class in the city.  Let me tell you, it is a science frothing (texturizing) the milk at the correct temperature.  We'll be purchasing an espresso machine upon our return.  A much smaller version of this commercial one, of course.

A cloudy walk with Sampson this morning, but the scenery is still beautiful!

I made a solo trip downtown to the National Gallery Victoria to view Aboriginal art before our upcoming Uluru trip.

In another part of the gallery I loved this cat sculpture.

And what trip downtown wouldn't be complete without a cappuccino?

I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.  I attended an indigenous basketry class.  Still have some finishing to do.

That's it for now.  Next stop......Uluru
Stay tuned and G'Day!
